This is a macro photo of a raindrop on the leaf of the Alchemilla mollis – a plant with big toothy scalloped leaves that capture and funnel rain into tiny little ponds that fairies could take a bath in, if fairies were inclined to do such a thing. Now, that’s a detail you probably haven’t heard before.
Why can we remember the tiniest detail that has happened to us, and not remember how many times we have told it to the same person.

It’s neat how things look so surreal up close…

Great shot, Margie, and this is one of my favorite plants, the equivalent of green velvet in the garden.

I like the plant, but was surprised by the flowers. I didn’t expect clusters of tiny, tiny flowers. I thought it would have big flowers to match the leaves!

Awesome shot! Up next….whiskers on kittens.

I’m not sure I can do ‘whiskers on kittens’, but ‘Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes’ – I could do that this morning!

Very cool. Besides the detail you’ve captured, the colour is extraordinary.

That’s cool. Before reading it, I kept looking trying to figure out what it was. Amazing how the water acts as a sort of magnifying glass through which the detail shows up better.

Yes, the water does magnify the leaf – you can even see the pores.

Thanks Chris – I am always inspired by the photos on your blog. Your home turf is mine, except you capture it in ways I never can.

I’m trying to see what’s reflected in the drop. Anyone have any ideas?
