I’ve named my most recent Crochet Scrumble ‘Grape Expectations’. There are five small bunches of ‘grapes’ in this piece. I ‘expected’ to make more grapes, but they were time consuming and fiddly to make.
My grapes are small in comparison to the large, and very expensive, Japanese Ruby Roman grapes. One bunch sold for $12,000 at an auction in 2020. That’s about $400 per grape! (See Video below.)
I had ‘Grape Expectations’ that there would be lots of puns, jokes and memes about grapes…
Grape minds think alike.
How does one measure the length of grapevines? They do it by vineyards.
I Came, I Saw, I Concord.
I like talking to my kids about the benefits of dried grapes.
It’s all about raisin awareness.
There was once a old grape farmer, who had gone through many droughts. When his grapes had fallen and dried out, all he could say was…. Everything happens for a raisin.
What would a grape say if you step on it? It won’t say anything; it will just let out a little wine.
IQ of a Grape
From prison he tried to escape
But, had the IQ of a grape
… His rocket (mis-wired)
… Quickly backfired
Now he’s all over the landscape

My other Scrumbles:
I really like your scrambles. Do you display them as art?
LikeLike
Yes, I’ve mounted them all on a large foam core type board in my craft room. That gives me flexibility to move them around as I add more to the display.

“Grape Expectations”! 🤣 So … How do you think the grapes complain? They vine.

That’s quite a crochet collection. Impressive. No sour grapes there!

Your crochet art is quite impressive! I have no grape puns for your entertainment, unfortunately. A $400 grape? Imagine what the bottle of wine would cost.

The Ruby Roman Grapes are too limited in production to even think about making wine from them! If a person wants to try growing them, a package of 10 seeds is available on Amazon for $14.

One Japanese Ruby Roman grape costs more than my wife’s wedding ring. Of course I am known for being cheap and I bought the ring in 1969.

My plain gold wedding band (1969) was a lot less than $400 too. Hubby couldn’t afford a diamond engagement ring. The car we drove was a Chevy that The Car Guy got for about $125.

Now I feel affluent. I drove a $400 Ford Falcon.

I am drawn to anything that is as grape as this is. Beautiful crocheting projects, but the line about raisin awareness had me laughing out loud. Thank you.

Raisin awareness about just about everything is very popular these days.

There’s a little face at the top of your blue/black/yellow scrumble, seeming to say, “HEY! What am I doing here?” The Jack Clark limerick is just bizarre enough to be funny. And I love the “Grapes of Wrath”. People have too much time on their hands 🙂

I noticed the face after I photographed that scrumble. Sure didn’t see it when I assembled it!
I like limericks. I found this one recently (author unknown) and now I think I should to do a post about limericks:
The limerick packs laughs anatomical
Into space that is quite economical.
But the good ones I’ve seen
So seldom are clean
And the clean ones so seldom are comical.

I know nothing about crocheting other than that my grandma made afghans. The light blankets, not the people from the place we tried to upgrade.
Do you know the worst thing that can happen to a grape? When it gets into a jam.

Why couldn’t grandma bring her crochet hook on the airplane? They were worried she might crochet an afghan.
Thanks for the jam joke!
